Thank you for your interest in 1st Freo Sea Scouts – Joeys division (ages 5-7).
If you have had experience with, or heard about scouts, you would be aware it is fun, social, practical, skills building program with awesome leadership training. Scouts is an amazing organisation to be involved with for children and families. We LOVE it, and are very fortunate to have a scout hall on the river in East Fremantle. Below is some important information.
WHEN AND WHERE DO WE MEET?
Our Joeys meet every Wednesday night from 5-5:45pm at Camp Waller during the school term. The hall is located on Jerrart Dve in East Fremantle. We are at the bottom of the steep driveway- parking is at the top adjacent to the driveway.
WHEN CAN MY CHILD VISIT?
Our meetings run from the 1st week of the school term. Your child can attend 4 meetings free of charge, to see if they like it, after which registration fee applies.
WHAT TO DO ON THE FIRST NIGHT?
When you arrive at the hall please look for one of the leaders to help you out and feel free to stay the first night to see how our meetings are run, check out our glorious location, and meet some other parents / leaders.

ENROLMENT
When you make the decision to enrol you will need to complete the following forms (H1 and Y1) which will be provided and may be completed either in paper or electronically. This is essential for insurance purposes.
COSTS
Fees for Scouts are made up of the Scouts WA fee and a group fee.
ScoutsWA – you will be invoiced for this after you submit your enrolment forms. The cost of this is on the ScoutsWA website but by way of indication was $195 for a Joey last year and covers a year from enrolment to the following year. Ie if you enrolled on say 15 Feb 2023 it would cover 15Feb23-15Feb24.
Group fees for the Fremantle group cover a calendar year (Jan-Dec) invoiced generally during term 2. Last year this was $300 for a Joey.
Other than these relevant costs are purchase of a shirt (approx $40) and camps etc will include fees to cover costs.
As we are an active Sea Scout group with sailing through to competition those holding a Health Care card may qualify for a Kidsport contribution of $150
ADULT ASSISTANCE
Scouts is a volunteer run organisation, so parental help is required. Talk to the leaders about how you can contribute.
